Not sure how this place does so well, the food is average at best. I had the country fried steak, it was OK, nothing special at all. Food is big so be prepared to feel bloated, but comes out very fast though and quaint little store there. For the most part I would never take a date here unless she was from below the Mason-Dixon line.

This place is really starting to grow on me. Ever since I discovered how good their pancakes are, my fiance' and I have been stopping in here every couple of weeks or so. Their pancakes are perfect every time, and I have never had them brought to me cold. (Yet!) I'm super-picky about my pancakes, so that means a lot to me. I also love that they have real maple syrup. Definitely a plus for me!

This review is specifically for the Plymouth Meeting Cracker Barrel location. I have had excellent service at other Cracker Barrel locations. Upon arrival we were seated, but 20 minutes passed before a server approached us. We weren't offered rolls or anything (like other customers in the restaurant). Once our server took our order, we waited another 20 minutes before our food arrived. The food was cold and the order was incomplete. My husband (who was in the area for surgery) was so dissatisfied. We were surprised at the poor customer service. The manager did try to console us and he took 50% off of our bill. We truly appreciated that gesture, but the customer service was very poor and I would never recommend this location to others.

I don't like heart attacks or most things from the South. Thus, I don't like Cracker Barrel. But even if I did like Southern-style "comfort food", I can imagine there are better places to get it than a giant chain restaurant with hour-long waits on the weekends. Normally I'll suck it up and eat here when friends insist on going. However, my last experience really sealed the deal for me on disliking this place. My stomach was already queasy from being sick the day before, so I only ordered a bowl of Special K (I know, cereal is the dumbest thing to order at a restaurant, but I really couldn't stomach any of their other food.) I pour a bowl with milk... take a bite... SOUR MILK! It tasted horrible. Sure enough, the carton was expired by several days. The waitress apologized and brought out another carton, but I had to ask her for again for another bowl before she brought out a clean bowl and another mini box of cereal since the first was ruined. In her defense, she was a great waitress otherwise. I'm just not a fan of Cracker Barrel, and the sour milk on an already queasy stomach just reinforced my opinion. Two stars for good prices, friendly service, and general store to occupy you while you wait. Obviously some people love this place, but not me.

Our family of 3 ordered nothing special just from the menu. Our food came out and my husband was missing 1 of his 3 eggs. I was missing my hash browns and toast. When it was brought to the waitress attention. She went and brought the egg and asked of there was anything else she could do I mentioned hash browns and toast. She brought back my hash browns. I mentioned I still needed my toast. She asked if my son needed more oj. She brought him some more oj. I mentioned my toast. I asked if she could reheat my 4 over easy eggs because now they are cold because I'm still waiting for my toast. She brings me back my eggs that were heated and now they were hard. And no toast. I mentioned I still needed my toast. Literally 20 minutes no toast !!! So I found a manager. He got me toast within seconds. And brought me back 4 fresh hot eggs. The waitress asked if there was something wrong with the first order ummmm yeah they got cold and hard waiting for toast. My family was done eating and I just had my toast!! We will never go back!!!!

A nice substitute once in a while. It is a good family restaurant. Went there last saturday, sadly all by myself, since I was in area after shopping at a petsmart. I ordered a selection from their Fancy Fixin section. I went with their farm raised catfish platter. Fancy fixin comes with 3 choices of any vegetable side dishes.. and also a biscuit and a corn muffins. For the drink, I go with freshly brewed ice tea. Everything only cost me $11.96 after the tax. Portion wise, it's big. Service wise, its good to just okay. They have some sort of country store infront of their dining area. It's pretty festive. They had both halloween and christmas ornaments when I went there. I need to try on their breakfast menu next time; which is served all day.

It's amazing how packed this place is at all times. Beware on weekends, the list to put your name on is out front not at the counter. I like browsing the store for all the candy that I remember from growing up: Big League Chew, Razzles, Candy Buttons, Candy Sticks, etc. The food will not knocks your socks off, but it's good food for a good price. It's the type of stuff that would take you a little longer to make so I think definitely worth it. Also, the servers are always sweet but on the busier side.

Came here for brunch w/ a group of girlfriends pre bridesmaids dress shopping so the experience was definitely made better by the company! otherwise, the food was ok. your usual southern, home style cooking with your biscuits & gravy, fried chicken grits, etc, fare. i do commend them on offering healthy choices like egg beaters, turkey sausage/bacon, whole wheat, & promise butter, yogurt, fruit & granola. there are even meal options that offer all healthy substitutes in one meal. i know that this may go against all "true southern food", but it's nice to know you have that option. the only downside is, they make you wait/go in through their gift shop- which is like someone's backyard sale x 10. anything & everything u can imagine is sold here. lollipops, spam, dog food, card games, coloring books- you name it! and don't worry, if you think you missed out by not having to wait (bc oddly enough it gets pretty packed), there are more random knickknacks mounted on the wall. on your right you have an old tennis racket, on your left a black & white group picture from the 60's. the meal itself was nothing spectacular or memorable. i had one of their platters...eggs, turkey sausage, yogurt fruit granola, and substituted my muffin for biscuits which were kind of disappointing. i expected a southern themed restaurant to have buttery, aromatic, biscuits. instead they were dry & tasteless...fail. i do like the warmed maple syrup in it's individual mini bottle. perhaps their lunch or dinner is better...but unless i am joining someone else here, i prob wouldn't come back here on purpose for brunch.

I have been to this Cracker Barrel around 10 times over the past year or so. Staff is friendly and helpful. I experienced nothing but a great dining experience the past 9 times. However this last time I was in... everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I sat down to dirty silverware, let the waitress know and she quickly whisked them away. We ordered our usual (I get the grilled chicken tenders and my lady gets one of the specials) and diet coke and Arnold Palmer. Drinks were slow to get refilled but I am forgiving of that since I drink soda like a sieve. Salads came and I was still without silverware -our waitress than told us that our food was up and asked what we wanted her to bring it or have it sit under a hot light. We asked to have our food, save the salads for dessert I guess. Our food arrived but the cook turned my tenders into Cajun catfish. She returned my meal to get me my correct entree, on the plus side she left me apples to eat, but ironically, no silverware to eat it with. I borrowed a spoon from my fiancee and dug in. Finished my apples and waited for my main course. Once it finally came out, I still didn't have silverware so I sat waiting again. I could go on and on about the rest of the meal but I hope that this was a fluke, I understand we all that those bad days... but this waitress couldn't catch a break. But in all honesty I wouldn't minded any of this... if she had comped us a part of the meal or drinks or something. We will be back, hoping for better service.

Great Cracker Barrel location. Seems a little hiden, but trust me, people know about it. Place gets packed for a weekend breakfast. The impressive part is they get you seated incredibly fast. There were easily 40-50 people ahead of us (one party of 20) and we got seated within a half hour. Cannot beat their prices. Cannot beat the home-cooked taste. Breakfast menu is enormous and it's all delicious. My favorite is the sunrise sampler. You get a little bit of everything. I even ordered a side of the country fried steak last time too (over-kill). So much food for so little cost. I love it!

Lord in heaven their food is good!!! Now I have not been at Cracker Barrel in years and the first time I been to one was down South..I still remember my meal! Chicken fried Steak and mashed potatoes. My mouth drooling just thinking about it. The next time I went, it was just outside of Philly but I don't remember which one it was... Food was excellent, I couldn't even move my greedy self from the table. My first time coming here. Little store front shop entertains you while wait (which wasn't long). Rainbow trout was perfect. Pulled pork was great. I don't care for carrots, but theirs are wonderful. Macaroni and cheese was tasty. And our waitress was friendly and attentive. And you simply can't beat the price. I will definitely return.

I admit, I like this place. Didn't think I would, but I've grown to love their breakfast. Atmosphere: (B+) Feels like you've stepped into an old fashioned farm and craft store. I actually kinda enjoy looking through their store while I'm waiting for a table.. brings back memories, candy dots and throwback toys. Food: (A) I love their breakfast, but like I've mentioned before, how can you go wrong with some eggs and bacon? And I really really like their cheesy hashbrown casserole... and the biscuits and gravy. As far as their regular menu is concerned, I think its pretty decent. Service: (A-) I don't think there's too much to be said here, I think most of my servers have been pretty quick and friendly. The wait is probably the most annoying part of this place. Overall: (A) If you can stand a bit of wait on the weekends and like old fashioned meals, I definitely recommend Cracker Barrel.

I just loves me the Cracker Barrel. It's great down home food at reasonable prices. The kids love the store and sitting by the huge fireplace. Their food isn't fancy, but it's fresh, Southern style (turnip greens! blackened catfish! hushpuppies), with rather large portions. You really can't go wrong here. 5 stars in flavor for buttermilk pancakes with bacon or country ham only. While I've had the country fried chicken with sides or chicken-and-dumplings and thought each meal was successful at the time, every time I eat pancakes at Cracker Barrel, I regret everything else I've ever eaten at Cracker Barrel. The edges are always crispy the centers are always fluffy. The server brings you a warmed individualized serving/bottle of maple syrup, sometimes two servings/bottles if you can make the psychic connection happen with that server. Any other meat than bacon or country ham (the latter of which has to be ordered as a side) is a mealy or rubbery mistake that you will rue. One star is knocked off, because we/you always have to wait, which is almost migraine-inducing with potpourri stink and bad country music din, as well as filled other crap you never want to buy.

My bf has been bugging me to take him here for a while and I finally took him. He didn't get a cracker barrel gift card for xmas so i felt bad! For first timers it was interesting. You walk through their store/gift shop before you get to the hostess station. We were seated quickly and the dining room is huge with a ginormous fireplace. I love the smell of burning wood so that was a nice touch. Once seated our waitress was friendly and quick. We got our drink orders in, had time to peruse the menu and make our choices. And if you're going to cracker barrel then be ready to eat things that aren't good for you but tastes oh so good! I had the ribeye steak (with corn, mashed potatoes & dumplins) and my bf had grandpa's country fried breakfast (2 eggs, grits, sawmill gravy *YUM*, buttermilk biscuits, hashbrown casserole and country fried steak). Ribeye was tender, juicy and good but the dumplins...omg...first time eating those and they were SOO GOOD!!! Bf's country fried steak was YUMMY and the sawmill gravy went great with just about everything...It was a lot of food but we made a huge dent in it. We'll definitely be going back although we have to space out our visits so our pants can still fit...

Brunch at 1pm on a Thursday afternoon - I had no idea this place was so bumpin. The parking lot is huge and it's a good thing because, even at this time, it was really busy. We were seated fairly quickly after some table confusion. We were greeted promptly but the service went down after that. She brought our drinks and took our order and disappeared for the next 15-20 minutes until our food came out. We got our food, asked for a few extras (didn't this meal come with biscuits?...), got those, and then we didn't see her again. The food was okay. I had eggs-in-a-basket. The bread had been slathered in butter before being fried and I found it a little too sweet and greasy. The hashbrown casserole was good. The raspberry lemonade was overly sweet - as if I were just drinking it from concentrate. I cut it with some water. Everyone else seemed happy with their meals. No rave reviews nor complaints. For 4 of us eating a basic brunch, it was $35. The country store did it's best to put tons of country kitch in our way, but we got out unscathed.

I love me some Cracker Barrel and this one doesn't disappoint. I visit this location a half a dozen or so times a year and it always has good, southern, comfort food for very reasonable prices. The bill for my wife and I is always around $23 or so before tip. They have friendly servers and there's rarely ever a wait for a table cause they get your food to you so quickly. You can get in and get out easily in under an hour even on a busy Saturday night. Last Saturday my wife and I were there and we were in and out in approximately 35 minutes. It was awesome. Also, they have a country store with random brick a brack and old timey candy and soda. If you ever actually had to wait for a table you could kill time looking around the store.

We've been going to cracker barrel for a long time. My family goes to cracker barrel about 2-3 times a month. The manager knows them. I'll go with them about once a month. Depending on the day, the wait is from 5-25 minutes. Do not go on holidays, if possible. It's a good restaurant, but there are so many people waiting that they turn up the air, and it gets cold, basically to help people get in and out. There are large numbers on holidays, take heed. The waiters are attentive but there has been a few bad apples, don't fret, the manager will take care of any of your problems. I like their food. I'm not a picky eater so I don't order a whole lot. But if u want breakfast, they have it whenever u want. And if u have to wait long, then there's a store in which they sell candy, chips, movies, toys, clothing items are more. We mostly buy candy. The food is filling as well.

I come here for Comfort. Comfort food that is. I know this is one of many chains, but one thing great about chains? Consistency. My all time favorite is the chicken and dumplings with a side of fried apples. Whenever I get that craving for luscious creamy dumplings and tart apples, there is only one taste you can find it. Not something to indulge in everyday, but when you get the itch for southern comfort food, this is the place to be. If anyone knows how to make this meal (pictured above), I will negotiate giving you my first born for the recipe. This is a great place to bring the family too! While you wait for your table, you can browse in their general store with all the fun nostalgic nic knacks. The staff was friendly and polite. It was a true treasure!

Oh my, god, this place was SO crowded when I went there, but to get seated is like no more than 10 minutes. The restaurant itself is pretty big. The layout & decorations were like you were being seating in someone's house for dinner. it gave a really nice personable touch just from that alone. Now, the service. Our waitress did take a while before she was able to get to the table to take our orders(once again, it was crowded around dinner time), but then the food was out in no more than 15 mins approx. The food! It was excellent! Nice quailty.. should I call it "Soul Food"? It was like down south comfort food. It was tasty, filling & priced fairly. I 5 starred this place alone for the food & atmosphere. What was most strange was the gift shop you walk through when you first enter the restaurant, but at least it gives you something to do while you're waiting for a table.

The two waitresses who brought out our dishes just left the food on the table and dint even ask if we needed anything or made sure the order was right..and it wasn't. blah. blah blah blah blah. is my review for all things cracker barrel. sorry, PM location, but you will have to take the bad rating on the behalf of your entire company/ i detest not only this cracker barrel, but all cracker barrels in exsistence. every time i see a billboard for one on the road, i die a little inside. some one mentioned retirement home food, and that is precisely how i would describe cracker barrel. if you have no teeth or taste buds, this is the place for you! if you like your food bland and a step above cardboard, then come on down! now, i will say i have only ever been to a cracker barrel for breakfast. but i assume, perhaps incorrectly, that's where they make most of their money. yuck. the hash brown casserole...where do i start? should i begin with the fact that it will sit in your stomach like a rock if you don't choke on it first? on paper, the meals sound good. but when you get them and actually eat them, it's a very different story. no flavor. i just cannot believe that people think "southern home cooking" when they hear cracker barrel. i don't even consider it hangover food, and hangover food can be a pretty desperate thing sometimes. i think i've made my opinion on the food pretty clear. but i also never trust a restaurant that makes you meander through a gift shop before you eat...tacky.

Relaxing w/ Simple and Buttery Country Style. This is a great place to eat if you are looking for a Country Style-made place with family and friends. Its casual, calm, and simple. There is a lot of butter going on, but just how a country style should be, and is perfect the way it is. I usually get steak and corn on the side when I am there because once I walk into the restaurant the steaks (medium well) are seriously calling my name. Its incredibly mouth-watering, and juicy with some A1 sauce! The place is not loud, even with little kids. I never had to wait for a seat. The service is great, and people there are really mellow. Never heard any customers complain, always walking out happy and plumped.

I like the food but they need to give serious consideration about the layout. When we were they we had trouble getting through the shop to get to the desk to check in. Once seated we had to wait at least 30 - 40 minuets for our food to come. After we ate we had an equally hard time to even get out. People coming in, people shopping, and people leaving were all running into each other. Although the staff did their best it was very frustrating. We attempted to do a little shopping and got in line to pay but it took so long we got disgusted and left. Won't be back for awhile.

I've been to several Cracker Barrels throughout the Eastern part of the United States, and every time I went I had rather nice food, nice (if amusingly country bumpkin) service, and never a long wait. Service aside, I will focus primarily on the food. First up are: The biscuits and the cornbread!!!!!! Perhaps this stuff IS prepared in a commissary kitchen, but who cares if it is? Both are buttery, soft, and rich, and the perfect foils for soups and various braised dishes that they offer. I remember on one occassion I ate about seven of them; whoo boy I felt sick after that! On at least two different instances I ordered the "lighter" vegetable plate which consisted of two biscuits, and what ended up being my choice of fava beans and turnip greens (the latter of which I still remember being fantastic). I believe the first time I ever came I got the cobb salad which I distinctly remember coming with a perfect triangle of yellow Colby cheese. Catfish here I remember also being rather good, as was the macaroni and cheese. For dessert, I only ever had one thing here and that was the chocolate chip cookie sundae in honor of my sister's birthday. Nowadays I like to pretend that I'm a sophisticated "dessertier" who nibbles on gelato and little nut tarts, but this dish epitomized all that was familiar and comfortable. In conclusion, don't go here for anything new, innovative, or particularly spectacular. Come here because it's the best roadside option next to a deliciously dingy diner you can get, the food is quite food, and everything about the entire restaurant is simply comforting.

I went here with twelve of my friends at 6 am one day. (do not ask why. lol) We were all tired and hungry and we were seated right away with our convienience. Food was served right away with fresh steaming bread that just came out from the oven. It tasted great other than their potato dish because it wasn't the kind I wanted. But their music was boring for me because it was country music and the atmosphere was unique in a way. Price was reasonable, although I can def. make those food simply at home. They had funny names for their food on the menu. even though I got food coma afterwards, they have great service, good environment, and yummy bread, apple chips and gravy.

I'm pretty convinced everything here is microwaved Sysco food, and if you've ever lived in the south, you KNOW there's better food. If you haven't, don't let this place take advantage of you. Their fried chicken is pretty average - when you're in Philly, go to Delilah's in the Reading Terminal Market! When you're in the South, try almost anywhere else. The rest of their food is bland and overcooked. Ok - ONE extra star because unlike retirement food, Cracker Barrel's comes in recognizable, non-pureed form. If you like really cheap, crappy knick knacks that capitalizes off of what people think you can buy in an old deep south country store, go ahead. Indulge your DIsney fantasy.

Basing my review on breakfast only, as this is the only meal I have ever eatern at Cracker Barrell. Large menu filled with calorie-laden, rib-stickin' good old comfort food. I doubt there is a menu item (sans pancakes) that doesn't come with their homemade biscuits. People rave over them. Me, I am not biscuit girl, but I do love a big hearty breakfast and this is where I come for that! I love the pancake and eggs breakfast with your choice of breakfast meat. The serving is gigantic and honestly I do not want to eat for the rest of the day. Pancakes are light and fluffy, eggs are done the way I like - scrambled hard. The maple syrup is a litte lifeless as is their coffee, but their OJ is terrific. They also have a delicious sweet tea. Service is efficient, and even when there appears to be a long wait, it moves fairly quickly. Besides, you can kill lots of time in the gift shop perusing the aisles of useless stuff you shouldn't waste your money on. Even so, I love the concept and it really does help kill time as you wait for a table.

I'm from New York City and there aren't any Cracker Barrels around where I live, so when my friends suggested that we dined here for dinner, I was reluctant to try it. Upon walking into the venue, the first thing any diner would have to encounter is the little shop at the front of the store. This shop sells small goods ranging from candies to small trinkets. You can also pay here when you're finished with your meal. Thought that was pretty neat. When I walked into the dining area itself, I noticed they tried to make it feel like home as much as possible. Many tables and decorations on the wall were present. As for the service, our server Justine was helpful and courteous. She was even cool with the fact that we came at 9:40pm while closing time was 10:00. As for the food itself, I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, corn and Mac and cheese. The gravy that accompanied the chicken and mashed potatoes really brought out the savory taste. The best thing about about the meal? It was only $10! Tasty and inexpensive. Too bad I was too full to finish everything. Would I be back? Sure!

A friend and I had breakfast recently at the Cracker Barrel. I hadn't been there in quite a while but after the first five minutes, I remembered why. The noise level was so high that we could barely hear ourselves speak! The atmosphere was anything but relaxing with all the noise, commotion, babies crying and kids yelling, people trying to talk over the top of that, and so forth. I ordered a very simple breakfast of two eggs, bacon, and toast and I must admit it came out very quickly from the kitchen. The eggs were super tiny, and quite dry. The toast reminded me of stale, dried out bread but the bacon was done to a turn and quite delicious. Our server was a pleasant young woman and was very attentive. But even with all that, I came out of there feeling hungry,and $15 poorer. The thought of paying $10 for two little tiny eggs and two skinny strips of bacon with dried out toast more or less ruined the experience for me. However, I was a good customer and did leave a five dollar tip. All in all, I was disappointed and it will be quite a while before I go back Honestly, I think breakfast at McDonald's is lots better! At least their McMuffin sandwiches, etc.are satisfying.

Of course a vegan knows going in that there's really nothing much to eat at a Cracker Barrel, but you won't starve. There are a few boring accidentally vegan items that the staff thinks of as dietetic or allergen-free: oatmeal, grits, hash browns, steamed carrots or broccoli, etc. Read the menu carefully and ask questions. Remember that if it has any cholesterol at all, it contains an animal product. A vegetarian who eats eggs can find a lot more options, obviously. My waitress was very helpful and prompt, and made no mistakes, not at all like some of the servers described by other Yelpers. My omnivore companion liked his "Grilled Chicken n' Fresh Vegetable Salad" well enough though it was only an ordinary green salad with some corn added as the vegetable. The food was a bit pricey, we both thought, and not really worth the money. We browsed the retro country store listening to bluegrass gospel and Dolly Parton singing, "Oh the pain of loving you! Oh the misery I go through!" The store was way more entertaining than the restaurant. If you care about buying US-made look sharp, because much of the old-timey patriotic kitsch is made in China. Right now, early fall, they're stocking Halloween costumes and gearing up for Christmas, oh joy! Overall, I consider this visit a one-time deal. I won't be stopping along the road at any other Cracker Barrels.

Fried chicken Sunday dinners!! This place is consistently great and the service is spot on! I don't know how these servers are so cheerful, but they are consistently bubbly! Plenty of choices for everyone on the menu and I don't think I've ever finished everything on my plate!!

What a gawd awful place to eat. We had just spent the morning at the crayola factory and we were all hungry. I remembered Cracker Barrel as a kid and thought it would be fun to revisit it. MAJOR FAIL We were quickly seated and that's the extent of our positive experience. Our server took her time taking our order. I placed the kid's orders first and they took forever to come out. The place wasn't busy. Next, we finally placed our orders (the kids were practically done at this point). My sister in law and I ordered the same thing- oven baked chicken breast. I don't know how this happened, but my dish was the last one out of the kitchen. So, they (SIL and my husband) ate their entire meal and I watched. Finally, mine was brought out but it was so uncomfortable to eat knowing they were done. I was *thisclose* to cancelling my order. The food isn't good- period. My husband's steak was well-done andhe asked for it medium well. Service was awful. I'm not sure who's fault the crappy timing of the meal was- the server or the cook. I won't be back.

Had to come up to Plymouth Meeting on some weekend business. Figured this was as good a place as any to grab a quick bite before heading home. I just don't get enough of Cracker Barrel in my life. This is the closest one to me, and to be honest with all of the diner choices I have in my life, why would I drive up here more often to come to a place like this? You see, Cracker Barrel is the perfect "we might as well try it while we are here" place. I don't know many people who go out of their way just to go to one. I suppose if one were closer to me, I would go more often. After all, you can't beat the prices here. But of the breakfast sampler I tried, I probably enjoyed about half of the items while the others were just ok. The biscuits were good but the gravy didn't wow me. The fried apples were tasty, but the grits underwhelmed. The bacon and sausage were decent, but the ham was too salty and fatty. The store is a Republican's fantasy store, with all of the gospel and Chevy truck hats and stuff with inspirational sayings and what not. I imagine Sarah Palin would be quite comfortable here. Despite all of that, I kind of like the old style soda choices and some of the knick knacks. It's a fine choice if you don't have to drive too far to get to it. And I finally beat the peg game, though I admit that I googled the solution.

Cracker Barrel has a wide variety of menu options available and breakfast can be had from open until close. Fortunately, I don't have any near my house so it always feels like a vacation treat whenever I get a chance to get to one. I'm not going to say the food is awesome, but it is pretty good, and a great bang for your buck. It's definitely a family friendly atmosphere and whichever one I've visited I have always had a pleasurable experience with the staff, they certainly treat you with that whole "service with a smile" thing. The food I would give 3 1/2 stars, but the friendly service and the smells you get hit with when you walk through the door into a "country store" bumps it to up 4 stars in my book. They sell plenty of candy, scented candles, toys and games from yesteryear which causes me to always walk out satisfied and happy.

Horrible noisy experience as an adult man at the table next to me is watching LOUD videos on his phone. Third time this has happened as staff just walk by the man over and over. I'm done with this place. It has taken a serious nose dive. They lost my business. I would give it zero stars if I could. My server, Alberto, is the best I've ever had, but the ambience is gone.

Country atmosphere, very cute! Not quiet at all, but a busy type of noise that isn't obnoxious. Only thing is we had to wait a bit for our food-which isn't too bad but I really think they should give you a little something to snack on while you wait. Biscuits, bread, anything. I got catfish, both grilled and fried. Mac and cheese, sweet potato and coleslaw. My daughter got praline pecan fried chicken salad. It was absolutely delicious. Best comfort food I've ever had!

The food is okay. Reasonable price. My husband really likes this place so we tend to order some takeout from this place quite a bit. Our takeout orders got messed up almost every time! It's so bad that it became a joke in our family. I always double check in the parking lot before I leave, but my husband doesn't always do that. 8 times out of 10 he came back with a totally different dish! So please BEWARE! I've always wanted to go to a Cracker Barrel! I drive past their billboards on the highway all the time, and I always wanted to actually go into one and try it out. Today ended up being the day, since sudden freezing rain stopped us from going - well, basically anywhere. I ordered three pancakes, with maple syrup, eggs (scrambled) and bacon. The pancakes were so delicious, sweet and kind of crispy along the edges. They tasted kind of like funnel cakes in pancake form - so delicious. They warmed up the maple syrup, too, which was awesome, although the butter patty was so hard I had to really struggle to spread it. There was a surprisingly small amount of eggs, but they did look like real eggs, the bacon, although marked as "thick-sliced," didn't seem any thicker than the average slice of bacon. The service was fine, although our waitress was a little hard to locate at times. She brought out a plate of biscuits in the beginning in lieu of giving us our individual biscuits, which was a little strange but nice, and she was prompt.

Everyone raves about this place, so I had to check it out! We went for dinner. I had the Oven Fried Chicken, My hubby had the over fried chicken with a side of shrimp and my daughter had the Kids Shrimp. Good thing: The place is nice, it's different and you can shop while you wait for your food (if you are into that kind of thing). I was able to browse while the family played Chinese Checkers at the table. The food came out so fast that I thought they were playing a joke on me when my daughter interrupted my shopping for me to eat. Chicken was dry, food was okay. Hubby mentioned that it could have been microwaved, which is true. There was nothing special at all about the food. They forgot his side of shrimp, which didn't come out until he was nearly finished his meal. We also had dessert which was also mediocre. The Ice cream had no taste and the apple pie was okay, but tasted more like a Mrs Smith's. IDK, maybe I was expecting too much. I was told that it is the breakfast that everyone raves about, which I didn't know they served all day. Dinner was wack to be honest, nothing to drive all the way out to Plymouth meeting to try. I was a bit disappointed but hey at least I can say I've been there. I am willing to go back and try breakfast, and maybe to a different location. It is very family friendly and the employees are nice.

This is the first Cracker Barrel I've ever been too and we've started coming here occasionally, usually for lunch. Service is always good and we never have to wait long for our food. Very reasonably priced with big portions and almost all of their meals coming with 2 or 3 sides. I like their chicken and dumplings and the chicken fried chicken. Also, their gift shop or whatever has some cool stuff in it.

Yes nothing like Cracker Barrel to start the day off, or in my case end the day. I had just finished work and the thought of momma's pancakes, with thick cut bacon , hash brown casserole, and buttermilk biscuits danced in my mind. As you enter this fine establishment you are greeted with that southern twist. Southern music being played, the inviting smell of the candles with their comfortable scents. This is got to be the largest gift store located within the restaurant that I have seen. OK lets get past that and into the real issue at hand.. FOOD !!! As you make your way thru you wait to be seated a whole minute, once you are acknowledged they walk you to your table. It is like walking through an antiques shop with all the early 1900's nostalgia, seeing how things were done before the technology came about. Seated quickly as my waitress was already there with a smile , this is looking good on my part I thought. Gave my order with seeing I already had a game plan before I even opened the doors. I must say probably the best breakfast out there is the " Momma's pancakes" with some more adds to the side to go with this. I had added the hash brown casserole, with buttermilk biscuits. The pancakes they make are excellent, fluffy and big with the hot syrup bottles they give to dress those flapjacks mixed with the melted butter. With these ginormous pancakes comes your eggs how you want, myself I went with scrambled with cheese. The cheese just holds these little guys together, so with every fork of it you are getting a great chunk, and sitting next to my eggs was the hash brown casserole. Oh this is work of art, hash browns thinly cut, mixed with cheese holding them in nice and tight just begging for you to please, please stick me and enjoy. Nice thick cut bacon, 4 strips of the healthy stuff for you to eye up and figure out when you can manage to enjoy it , but wait you have warm biscuits wanting some attention. Look to my right all of a sudden my coffee was topped off, I love this kind of pampering, it was all about me. OK maybe my eyes were bigger than my stomach, yes I know this now, but at that moment I needed that fix I had missed. I had forced myself to finish everything, leave no man behind type mentalities, or in this case down to the biscuit and hash browns. Goodness I was in heaven, I love food, places like this is the main reason why I am big. Honestly I had to unbuckle my belt and top button on my pants so I could drive home from the INEXPENSIVE FEAST I just experienced. Great atmosphere with the fireplace in the middle, excellent customer service, great food with the main ingredient being "butter". If you haven't been to a Cracker Barrel I don't know what you are waiting for. The other reviewers who gave a lower rating , I'm sorry but I did not experience what they had gone through. I will be back again, once a month type of visits. Now go in and eat, I enjoy spreading the love to all ! ***side note*** seeing it is the fall season they have an assortment of Harvest blends that looked amazing, I was contemplating in getting a pumpkin ginger custard for dessert, this was well before I even ate a single bite. Now I know, this will be saved for my next visit.

I have to admit I've probably frequented this restaurant more times than any other restaurant in my lifetime and I don't care. I've never had a bad experience here for being a large chain restaurant, and it's such an easy establishment to bring multiple generations of the family. They have two very large menus: one with typical home style meals and one with breakfast options and they serve breakfast all day. If you go on a Sunday you must get the Sunday special of home style fried chicken. There is no other option! If heavy foods isn't your style no problem! They've recently established a meal with lighter/healthier choices in their menu. And they also have a great salad section. I almost always go home with leftovers, including when I get a salad as a meal. Listen, you're not coming here for a new and original experience. Your coming to get a great amount of food for extremely low prices. The ambiance and front store may be a slight turn off, but if you have grandma and a 3 year old with you this is the place to go.

There's nothing fancy about this place. Its rustic decor and fireplace aren't modern or trendy by any stretch. But the extensive menu, the pleasant waiters and waitresses, and the speedy service make this the best family-friendly restaurant in the area. We have two small children, and everyone who works there is so welcoming to them. The pancakes are far and away the star of the menu, and they're worth having at any time of the day or night. For lunch or dinner, I enjoy the salads and chicken dishes. One thing is for sure- even with the lighter fare menus, if you're leaving hungry , that's not Cracker Barrel's doing! Word of caution: weekends can be packed, so if you are averse to crowds, consider going for an early morning breakfast (before 9am), or do an "off" time for lunch/dinner. Of course, there is always the store to occupy you while you wait!

Believe it or not we had an excellent time at cracker barrel with our party of 5.on a not-to-busy Friday night (5-7 minute wait for a table). The little one loved her food (fried shrimp) and she and my MIL shopped in the gift shop and bought "Mad Libs" and an old-style box of Cracker Jack. (The little one had never had cracker jack before and wondered about the prize.) After a carb and fat loaded meal (not good for the diet at all) we relxzed on rocking chairs out front (for sale) and played checkers. The staff especially Judi (trainer) in the gift shop and Justin or server were all terrific. Is this my favorite place? No way. But it beats Denny's or Perkins any day and you can get pancakes for dinner!

If you are looking for country cooking and not worried about calories, then this is your place. I go here maybe once a year and order anything I want with no care for calories. We recently went after a late night out. Grits, biscuits and gravy, along with some country fried steak was heavily needed. We had a 20 minute wait. So we had some time to wander the gift shop. We were seated within 20 minutes, greeted by our server immediately and looked at the menu. I feel the menu could be organized a bit better. I ordered an egg sandwich with the has brown casserole. It arrived promptly and i quickly stole my fiances grits. They were delish. I literally left nothing on my plate and grabbed a biscuit off his plate as well. This meal hit the spot, but it certainly is a place to reserve when you want to be really bad about calories.

We returned here after a long hiatus, driving forty minutes for breakfast . Despite their being extremely busy, we were promptly seated by the host who welcomed us. Dakar G., our server, soon arrived with menus and requested our beverage order. Throughout our visit we found him to be pleasant, efficient, and professional. On our prior visits we have always ordered the "Uncle Hershel's" special with a few modifications. Invariably, the servers have delivered our order slightly different than what we requested. This time, Dakar got it right with no exceptions! He checked in several times to esure that our meal was to our liking. He was a gem! Our food was quite good, a cut above standard diner breakfast fare, with quality ingredients, nicely presented and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is a bit contrived but fun, with a hodge podge of country accoutrements throughout the establishment. The working, wood burning fireplace adds a welcome dimension to the usual chain restaurant.

Cracker Barrel consistently disappoints me. My husband and I stopped here after going ten miles out of our way on our way home from the airport yesterday. We got seated right away but it took a while for our waitress to come. When she did, she was not one of the friendly ones. She took our drink order and I asked her what the soup was. She had to check on that! Hello, it's lunchtime and you don't know the soup of the day??? We ordered our food which included coleslaw and cornbread. I also ordered my platter without gravy. The waitress specifically asked me "you don't want any gravy at all?" I said "no, none at all." It took at least 20 minutes to get our food (even the coleslaw and cornbread) and guess what???? GRAVY on my food! The lady who brought our food (not our waitress) said, "I didn't know you meant no gravy at all, I thought you meant on your mashed potatoes." They took it back and then came out to tell me that if I didn't want gravy, I'd have to have my roast beef grilled. Okay, whatever. Ten minutes later, a third person brought my food and I must say he did apologize. However, at least half of my meat was fat so I couldn't eat it anyway. The first waitress then came over asked how everything was ......but she wasn't really waiting for a reply........just plopped our check on the table and walked away. Nope, didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. I am pretty sure this will be our last trip to Cracker Barrel!
I want to say that this a review specifically about the Plymouth Meeting Cracker Barrel. My boyfriend, my parents and my sister and her family have all been to many other Cracker Barrel's and they all raved about their experiences. This is not a rave review. Sunday morning around 9:30am on our way to vacation, my boyfriend thought I should experience Cracker Barrel. I had heard wonderful things from family and friends so I was excited. The one in Plymouth Meeting was on the way to our destination so we stopped there. The gift shop is pretty spectacular and well priced but I am trying to lose weight so purchasing candy was not on the to-do list. Very fun to look around at all the old time candies though! We were seated very quickly and our waitress came over relatively quickly to give us water. She smiled once, briefly and then turned into a robot. I ordered Mama's French Toast Breakfast and asked for the meat on a separate plate since I am a vegetarian and wanted to give my boyfriend the meat. This confused her I guess because it did not compute and took her some time to process. My boyfriend ordered Mama's Pancake breakfast, eggs lightly scrambled. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. People who were seated after us got served well before us by nicer, more caring waitresses around the room. When we finally got our food, it was lukewarm. The french toast was bland and tasted like uncooked white bread. They switched the egg orders so I got the lightly scrambled ones and before I realized it had added ketchup so then my boyfriend wouldn't eat it and I had slimy eggs while his were scrambled hard. The pancakes were burnt and tough. We were both thoroughly disappointed in this experience and will not return to this CB although I am still open to trying other ones in other parts of the country.

We were running errands yesterday evening and decided we might as well bite the bullet and finally try out Cracker Barrel. At first, I thought we had come in via the wrong door because we wound up in the gift shop, but no, apparently that's how they do things at Cracker Barrel. We were seated right away, and really the service was prompt and friendly the whole way though. I ordered the catfish and the boyfriend had a burger, and it was all pretty good, right down to the corn muffin and biscuit. They get a whole extra star for their tart but not overly sweet homemade lemonade. We wrapped up with a slice of "Coke cake" that was plenty big enough to share and did a great job of satisfying my chocolate craving. All in all, nothing fancy, just a decent home cooked meal when we couldn't be bothered cooking for ourselves, and for under $30 with tip I have no regrets. We browsed the gift shop on the way out, and even though we didn't buy anything, the prices were certainly reasonable, if country kitsch is your thing.

Never in all my years in Atlanta would I have gone to a place call Cracker Barrel. But here, now it's almost a Sunday ritual. They switch up their menu for the different seasons but their mainstays; Beef Tenderloins, Catfish, Sunday Chicken, and their breakfast menu are always spot on. The only reason for a 4 star is the service can be hit or miss. Don't get me wrong, they are all very friendly and helpful, but when that place gets packed it can be tough trying to get help.

Grandpa's Country Fried Steak Momma's French Toast Breakfast Been here 3 times, always left full. They always give great portions and all 3 times, I've been fully satisfied and satieted..if anything..too satisfied. The fried steak is a perfect blend of frying, meat, saltiness and filling. Not the healthiest way to start the day, but sure is one of the best ways to start the day. I also really like drenching my french toast in syrup and love how there is a layer of egg on top of it. Great place to stop prior to a ski trip in the Poconos. Eat well and lots for breakfast, ski/ride thru the day, skipping lunch. Added bonus, I really like their little bottles of warmed-up and watered-down syrup.

We hadn't been here for quite some time and decided to stop in for a quick lunch. It wasn't too crowded at 1:30 pm, and our wait was maybe 5 minutes. The hostess was lovely but our actual server was an absolute atrocity! She was very patronizing when I inquired about how big the turkey and chicken entree salads were. "It's a salad. It's lettuce." Well, geez that was super helpful. Thanks a million for letting me that a salad contains lettuce. Anyhow, I decided on the grilled chicken tenderloins country dinner plate, which contained 4 TINY pieces of chicken. They were tender but wouldn't have satisfied a toddler! The turnip greens were very good, though, as were the carrots. My dad's hamburger wasn't that great and tasted like something from a fast food restaurant, although the turkey noodle was decent. Now, since the actual entree was so tiny, I expected to be brought more than a single corn muffin and a single biscuit, but that was all. Our server actually ignored us throughout the meal and we had to ask for refills, which she did bring albeit with exaggerated eye rolls. I wish that she had actually told us her name so that I can call the management. Usually, the servers here are great but today was horrid! 1 star for the server, but I will add another because the other staff here were great and I do love the turnip greens and the single biscuit that I did get. BTW, we were seated near the 2nd door to the kitchen if that provides any elucidation into the identity of the waitress. Yes, I realize that I could have checked the receipt but dad threw it away on the way out...

Not sure how this place does so well, the food is average at best. I had the country fried steak, it was OK, nothing special at all. Food is big so be prepared to feel bloated, but comes out very fast though and quaint little store there. For the most part I would never take a date here unless she was from below the Mason-Dixon line.

This place is really starting to grow on me. Ever since I discovered how good their pancakes are, my fiance' and I have been stopping in here every couple of weeks or so. Their pancakes are perfect every time, and I have never had them brought to me cold. (Yet!) I'm super-picky about my pancakes, so that means a lot to me. I also love that they have real maple syrup. This review is specifically for the Plymouth Meeting Cracker Barrel location. I have had excellent service at other Cracker Barrel locations. Upon arrival we were seated, but 20 minutes passed before a server approached us. We weren't offered rolls or anything (like other customers in the restaurant). Once our server took our order, we waited another 20 minutes before our food arrived. The food was cold and the order was incomplete. My husband (who was in the area for surgery) was so dissatisfied. We were surprised at the poor customer service. The manager did try to console us and he took 50% off of our bill. We truly appreciated that gesture, but the customer service was very poor and I would never recommend this location to others.

I don't like heart attacks or most things from the South. Thus, I don't like Cracker Barrel. But even if I did like Southern-style "comfort food", I can imagine there are better places to get it than a giant chain restaurant with hour-long waits on the weekends. Normally I'll suck it up and eat here when friends insist on going. However, my last experience really sealed the deal for me on disliking this place. My stomach was already queasy from being sick the day before, so I only ordered a bowl of Special K (I know, cereal is the dumbest thing to order at a restaurant, but I really couldn't stomach any of their other food.) I pour a bowl with milk... take a bite... SOUR MILK! It tasted horrible. Sure enough, the carton was expired by several days. The waitress apologized and brought out another carton, but I had to ask her for again for another bowl before she brought out a clean bowl and another mini box of cereal since the first was ruined. In her defense, she was a great waitress otherwise. I'm just not a fan of Cracker Barrel, and the sour milk on an already queasy stomach just reinforced my opinion. Two stars for good prices, friendly service, and general store to occupy you while you wait. Obviously some people love this place, but not me.

Our family of 3 ordered nothing special just from the menu. Our food came out and my husband was missing 1 of his 3 eggs. I was missing my hash browns and toast. When it was brought to the waitress attention. She went and brought the egg and asked of there was anything else she could do I mentioned hash browns and toast. She brought back my hash browns. I mentioned I still needed my toast. She asked if my son needed more oj. She brought him some more oj. I mentioned my toast. I asked if she could reheat my 4 over easy eggs because now they are cold because I'm still waiting for my toast. She brings me back my eggs that were heated and now they were hard. And no toast. I mentioned I still needed my toast. Literally 20 minutes no toast !!! So I found a manager. He got me toast within seconds. And brought me back 4 fresh hot eggs. The waitress asked if there was something wrong with the first order ummmm yeah they got cold and hard waiting for toast. My family was done eating and I just had my toast!! We will never go back!!!!

A nice substitute once in a while. It is a good family restaurant. Went there last saturday, sadly all by myself, since I was in area after shopping at a petsmart. I ordered a selection from their Fancy Fixin section. I went with their farm raised catfish platter. Fancy fixin comes with 3 choices of any vegetable side dishes.. and also a biscuit and a corn muffins. For the drink, I go with freshly brewed ice tea. Everything only cost me $11.96 after the tax. Portion wise, it's big. Service wise, its good to just okay. They have some sort of country store infront of their dining area. It's pretty festive. They had both halloween and christmas ornaments when I went there. I need to try on their breakfast menu next time; which is served all day.

It's amazing how packed this place is at all times. Beware on weekends, the list to put your name on is out front not at the counter. I like browsing the store for all the candy that I remember from growing up: Big League Chew, Razzles, Candy Buttons, Candy Sticks, etc. The food will not knocks your socks off, but it's good food for a good price. It's the type of stuff that would take you a little longer to make so I think definitely worth it. Also, the servers are always sweet but on the busier side.

Came here for brunch w/ a group of girlfriends pre bridesmaids dress shopping so the experience was definitely made better by the company! otherwise, the food was ok. your usual southern, home style cooking with your biscuits & gravy, fried chicken grits, etc, fare. i do commend them on offering healthy choices like egg beaters, turkey sausage/bacon, whole wheat, & promise butter, yogurt, fruit & granola. there are even meal options that offer all healthy substitutes in one meal. i know that this may go against all "true southern food", but it's nice to know you have that option. the only downside is, they make you wait/go in through their gift shop- which is like someone's backyard sale x 10. anything & everything u can imagine is sold here. lollipops, spam, dog food, card games, coloring books- you name it! and don't worry, if you think you missed out by not having to wait (bc oddly enough it gets pretty packed), there are more random knickknacks mounted on the wall. on your right you have an old tennis racket, on your left a black & white group picture from the 60's. the meal itself was nothing spectacular or memorable. i had one of their platters...eggs, turkey sausage, yogurt fruit granola, and substituted my muffin for biscuits which were kind of disappointing. i expected a southern themed restaurant to have buttery, aromatic, biscuits. instead they were dry & tasteless...fail. i do like the warmed maple syrup in it's individual mini bottle. perhaps their lunch or dinner is better...but unless i am joining someone else here, i prob wouldn't come back here on purpose for brunch.

I have been to this Cracker Barrel around 10 times over the past year or so. Staff is friendly and helpful. I experienced nothing but a great dining experience the past 9 times. However this last time I was in... everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I sat down to dirty silverware, let the waitress know and she quickly whisked them away. We ordered our usual (I get the grilled chicken tenders and my lady gets one of the specials) and diet coke and Arnold Palmer. Drinks were slow to get refilled but I am forgiving of that since I drink soda like a sieve. Salads came and I was still without silverware -our waitress than told us that our food was up and asked what we wanted her to bring it or have it sit under a hot light. We asked to have our food, save the salads for dessert I guess. Our food arrived but the cook turned my tenders into Cajun catfish. She returned my meal to get me my correct entree, on the plus side she left me apples to eat, but ironically, no silverware to eat it with. I borrowed a spoon from my fiancee and dug in. Finished my apples and waited for my main course. Once it finally came out, I still didn't have silverware so I sat waiting again. I could go on and on about the rest of the meal but I hope that this was a fluke, I understand we all that those bad days... but this waitress couldn't catch a break. But in all honesty I wouldn't minded any of this... if she had comped us a part of the meal or drinks or something. We will be back, hoping for better service.

Great Cracker Barrel location. Seems a little hiden, but trust me, people know about it. Place gets packed for a weekend breakfast. The impressive part is they get you seated incredibly fast. There were easily 40-50 people ahead of us (one party of 20) and we got seated within a half hour. Cannot beat their prices. Cannot beat the home-cooked taste. Breakfast menu is enormous and it's all delicious. My favorite is the sunrise sampler. You get a little bit of everything. I even ordered a side of the country fried steak last time too (over-kill). So much food for so little cost. I love it!

Lord in heaven their food is good!!! Now I have not been at Cracker Barrel in years and the first time I been to one was down South..I still remember my meal! Chicken fried Steak and mashed potatoes. My mouth drooling just thinking about it. The next time I went, it was just outside of Philly but I don't remember which one it was... My first time coming here. Little store front shop entertains you while wait (which wasn't long). Rainbow trout was perfect. Pulled pork was great. I don't care for carrots, but theirs are wonderful. Macaroni and cheese was tasty. And our waitress was friendly and attentive. And you simply can't beat the price. I will definitely return.

I actually kinda enjoy looking through their store while I'm waiting for a table.. brings back memories, candy dots and throwback toys. Food: (A) I love their breakfast, but like I've mentioned before, how can you go wrong with some eggs and bacon? And I really really like their cheesy hashbrown casserole... and the biscuits and gravy. As far as their regular menu is concerned, I think its pretty decent. Service: (A-) I don't think there's too much to be said here, I think most of my servers have been pretty quick and friendly. The wait is probably the most annoying part of this place. Overall: (A) If you can stand a bit of wait on the weekends and like old fashioned meals, I definitely recommend Cracker Barrel.

I just loves me the Cracker Barrel. It's great down home food at reasonable prices. The kids love the store and sitting by the huge fireplace. Their food isn't fancy, but it's fresh, Southern style (turnip greens! blackened catfish! hushpuppies), with rather large portions. You really can't go wrong here. Food quality, presentation, and service are all rather consistent across the different locations.

5 stars in flavor for buttermilk pancakes with bacon or country ham only. While I've had the country fried chicken with sides or chicken-and-dumplings and thought each meal was successful at the time, every time I eat pancakes at Cracker Barrel, I regret everything else I've ever eaten at Cracker Barrel. The edges are always crispy the centers are always fluffy. The server brings you a warmed individualized serving/bottle of maple syrup, sometimes two servings/bottles if you can make the psychic connection happen with that server. Any other meat than bacon or country ham (the latter of which has to be ordered as a side) is a mealy or rubbery mistake that you will rue. One star is knocked off, because we/you always have to wait, which is almost migraine-inducing with potpourri stink and bad country music din, as well as filled other crap you never want to buy.

My bf has been bugging me to take him here for a while and I finally took him. He didn't get a cracker barrel gift card for xmas so i felt bad! For first timers it was interesting. You walk through their store/gift shop before you get to the hostess station. We were seated quickly and the dining room is huge with a ginormous fireplace. I love the smell of burning wood so that was a nice touch. Once seated our waitress was friendly and quick. We got our drink orders in, had time to peruse the menu and make our choices. And if you're going to cracker barrel then be ready to eat things that aren't good for you but tastes oh so good! I had the ribeye steak (with corn, mashed potatoes & dumplins) and my bf had grandpa's country fried breakfast (2 eggs, grits, sawmill gravy *YUM*, buttermilk biscuits, hashbrown casserole and country fried steak). Ribeye was tender, juicy and good but the dumplins...omg...first time eating those and they were SOO GOOD!!! Bf's country fried steak was YUMMY and the sawmill gravy went great with just about everything...It was a lot of food but we made a huge dent in it. We'll definitely be going back although we have to space out our visits so our pants can still fit...

Brunch at 1pm on a Thursday afternoon - I had no idea this place was so bumpin. The parking lot is huge and it's a good thing because, even at this time, it was really busy. We were seated fairly quickly after some table confusion. We were greeted promptly but the service went down after that. She brought our drinks and took our order and disappeared for the next 15-20 minutes until our food came out. We got our food, asked for a few extras (didn't this meal come with biscuits?...), got those, and then we didn't see her again. The food was okay. I had eggs-in-a-basket. The bread had been slathered in butter before being fried and I found it a little too sweet and greasy. The hashbrown casserole was good. The raspberry lemonade was overly sweet - as if I were just drinking it from concentrate. I cut it with some water. Everyone else seemed happy with their meals. No rave reviews nor complaints. For 4 of us eating a basic brunch, it was $35. The country store did it's best to put tons of country kitch in our way, but we got out unscathed.

I love me some Cracker Barrel and this one doesn't disappoint. I visit this location a half a dozen or so times a year and it always has good, southern, comfort food for very reasonable prices. The bill for my wife and I is always around $23 or so before tip. They have friendly servers and there's rarely ever a wait for a table cause they get your food to you so quickly. You can get in and get out easily in under an hour even on a busy Saturday night. Last Saturday my wife and I were there and we were in and out in approximately 35 minutes. It was awesome. Also, they have a country store with random brick a brack and old timey candy and soda. If you ever actually had to wait for a table you could kill time looking around the store.

We've been going to cracker barrel for a long time. My family goes to cracker barrel about 2-3 times a month. The manager knows them. I'll go with them about once a month. Depending on the day, the wait is from 5-25 minutes. Do not go on holidays, if possible. It's a good restaurant, but there are so many people waiting that they turn up the air, and it gets cold, basically to help people get in and out. There are large numbers on holidays, take heed. The waiters are attentive but there has been a few bad apples, don't fret, the manager will take care of any of your problems. I like their food. I'm not a picky eater so I don't order a whole lot. But if u want breakfast, they have it whenever u want. And if u have to wait long, then there's a store in which they sell candy, chips, movies, toys, clothing items are more. We mostly buy candy. The food is filling as well.

I come here for Comfort. Comfort food that is. I know this is one of many chains, but one thing great about chains? Consistency. My all time favorite is the chicken and dumplings with a side of fried apples. Whenever I get that craving for luscious creamy dumplings and tart apples, there is only one taste you can find it. Not something to indulge in everyday, but when you get the itch for southern comfort food, this is the place to be. If anyone knows how to make this meal (pictured above), I will negotiate giving you my first born for the recipe. This is a great place to bring the family too! While you wait for your table, you can browse in their general store with all the fun nostalgic nic knacks. The staff was friendly and polite. It was a true treasure!

Oh my, god, this place was SO crowded when I went there, but to get seated is like no more than 10 minutes. The restaurant itself is pretty big. The layout & decorations were like you were being seating in someone's house for dinner. it gave a really nice personable touch just from that alone. Now, the service. Our waitress did take a while before she was able to get to the table to take our orders(once again, it was crowded around dinner time), but then the food was out in no more than 15 mins approx. The food! It was excellent! Nice quailty.. should I call it "Soul Food"? It was like down south comfort food. It was tasty, filling & priced fairly. I 5 starred this place alone for the food & atmosphere. What was most strange was the gift shop you walk through when you first enter the restaurant, but at least it gives you something to do while you're waiting for a table.

blah. blah blah blah blah. is my review for all things cracker barrel. sorry, PM location, but you will have to take the bad rating on the behalf of your entire company/ i detest not only this cracker barrel, but all cracker barrels in exsistence. every time i see a billboard for one on the road, i die a little inside. some one mentioned retirement home food, and that is precisely how i would describe cracker barrel. if you have no teeth or taste buds, this is the place for you! if you like your food bland and a step above cardboard, then come on down! now, i will say i have only ever been to a cracker barrel for breakfast. but i assume, perhaps incorrectly, that's where they make most of their money. yuck. the hash brown casserole...where do i start? should i begin with the fact that it will sit in your stomach like a rock if you don't choke on it first? on paper, the meals sound good. but when you get them and actually eat them, it's a very different story. no flavor. i just cannot believe that people think "southern home cooking" when they hear cracker barrel. i don't even consider it hangover food, and hangover food can be a pretty desperate thing sometimes. i think i've made my opinion on the food pretty clear. but i also never trust a restaurant that makes you meander through a gift shop before you eat...tacky.

Relaxing w/ Simple and Buttery Country Style. This is a great place to eat if you are looking for a Country Style-made place with family and friends. Its casual, calm, and simple. There is a lot of butter going on, but just how a country style should be, and is perfect the way it is. I usually get steak and corn on the side when I am there because once I walk into the restaurant the steaks (medium well) are seriously calling my name. Its incredibly mouth-watering, and juicy with some A1 sauce! The place is not loud, even with little kids. I never had to wait for a seat. The service is great, and people there are really mellow. Never heard any customers complain, always walking out happy and plumped.

I like the food but they need to give serious consideration about the layout. When we were they we had trouble getting through the shop to get to the desk to check in. Once seated we had to wait at least 30 - 40 minuets for our food to come. After we ate we had an equally hard time to even get out. People coming in, people shopping, and people leaving were all running into each other. Although the staff did their best it was very frustrating. We attempted to do a little shopping and got in line to pay but it took so long we got disgusted and left. Won't be back for awhile.

I've been to several Cracker Barrels throughout the Eastern part of the United States, and every time I went I had rather nice food, nice (if amusingly country bumpkin) service, and never a long wait. Service aside, I will focus primarily on the food. First up are: The biscuits and the cornbread!!!!!! Perhaps this stuff IS prepared in a commissary kitchen, but who cares if it is? Both are buttery, soft, and rich, and the perfect foils for soups and various braised dishes that they offer. I remember on one occassion I ate about seven of them; whoo boy I felt sick after that! On at least two different instances I ordered the "lighter" vegetable plate which consisted of two biscuits, and what ended up being my choice of fava beans and turnip greens (the latter of which I still remember being fantastic). I believe the first time I ever came I got the cobb salad which I distinctly remember coming with a perfect triangle of yellow Colby cheese. Catfish here I remember also being rather good, as was the macaroni and cheese. For dessert, I only ever had one thing here and that was the chocolate chip cookie sundae in honor of my sister's birthday. Nowadays I like to pretend that I'm a sophisticated "dessertier" who nibbles on gelato and little nut tarts, but this dish epitomized all that was familiar and comfortable. In conclusion, don't go here for anything new, innovative, or particularly spectacular. Come here because it's the best roadside option next to a deliciously dingy diner you can get, the food is quite food, and everything about the entire restaurant is simply comforting.

I went here with twelve of my friends at 6 am one day. (do not ask why. lol) We were all tired and hungry and we were seated right away with our convienience. Food was served right away with fresh steaming bread that just came out from the oven. It tasted great other than their potato dish because it wasn't the kind I wanted. But their music was boring for me because it was country music and the atmosphere was unique in a way. Price was reasonable, although I can def. make those food simply at home. They had funny names for their food on the menu. even though I got food coma afterwards, they have great service, good environment, and yummy bread, apple chips and gravy.

I'm pretty convinced everything here is microwaved Sysco food, and if you've ever lived in the south, you KNOW there's better food. If you haven't, don't let this place take advantage of you. Their fried chicken is pretty average - when you're in Philly, go to Delilah's in the Reading Terminal Market! When you're in the South, try almost anywhere else. The rest of their food is bland and overcooked. Ok - ONE extra star because unlike retirement food, Cracker Barrel's comes in recognizable, non-pureed form. If you like really cheap, crappy knick knacks that capitalizes off of what people think you can buy in an old deep south country store, go ahead. Indulge your DIsney fantasy.

This is a good place for comfort food and has a huge selection so you can always find something. I had heard good things about this place so I was excited to go. it wasn't as good as I had prepared myself for but the variety of sides you can choose from is great. I love the country style and the gift shop. it reminds me of a Claim Jumper or Polly's pies in California.

Basing my review on breakfast only, as this is the only meal I have ever eatern at Cracker Barrell. Large menu filled with calorie-laden, rib-stickin' good old comfort food. I doubt there is a menu item (sans pancakes) that doesn't come with their homemade biscuits. People rave over them. Me, I am not biscuit girl, but I do love a big hearty breakfast and this is where I come for that! I love the pancake and eggs breakfast with your choice of breakfast meat. The serving is gigantic and honestly I do not want to eat for the rest of the day. Pancakes are light and fluffy, eggs are done the way I like - scrambled hard. The maple syrup is a litte lifeless as is their coffee, but their OJ is terrific. They also have a delicious sweet tea. Service is efficient, and even when there appears to be a long wait, it moves fairly quickly. Besides, you can kill lots of time in the gift shop perusing the aisles of useless stuff you shouldn't waste your money on. Even so, I love the concept and it really does help kill time as you wait for a table.

I'm from New York City and there aren't any Cracker Barrels around where I live, so when my friends suggested that we dined here for dinner, I was reluctant to try it. Upon walking into the venue, the first thing any diner would have to encounter is the little shop at the front of the store. This shop sells small goods ranging from candies to small trinkets. You can also pay here when you're finished with your meal. Thought that was pretty neat. When I walked into the dining area itself, I noticed they tried to make it feel like home as much as possible. Many tables and decorations on the wall were present. As for the service, our server Justine was helpful and courteous. She was even cool with the fact that we came at 9:40pm while closing time was 10:00. As for the food itself, I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, corn and Mac and cheese. The gravy that accompanied the chicken and mashed potatoes really brought out the savory taste. The best thing about about the meal? It was only $10! Tasty and inexpensive. Too bad I was too full to finish everything. Would I be back? Sure!

Defn not a healthy option insight but oh so good and cheap! I got the chicken fried chicken for $9.99 and came with 3 sides and biscuits, unheard of! Their sides aren't big but very delicious. I recommend the mashed potatoes, fried apples and sweet potato casserole. You can tell some things are not "home made" but when it's so good, you don't care.

A friend and I had breakfast recently at the Cracker Barrel. I hadn't been there in quite a while but after the first five minutes, I remembered why. The noise level was so high that we could barely hear ourselves speak! The atmosphere was anything but relaxing with all the noise, commotion, babies crying and kids yelling, people trying to talk over the top of that, and so forth. I ordered a very simple breakfast of two eggs, bacon, and toast and I must admit it came out very quickly from the kitchen. The eggs were super tiny, and quite dry. The toast reminded me of stale, dried out bread but the bacon was done to a turn and quite delicious. Our server was a pleasant young woman and was very attentive. But even with all that, I came out of there feeling hungry,and $15 poorer. The thought of paying $10 for two little tiny eggs and two skinny strips of bacon with dried out toast more or less ruined the experience for me. However, I was a good customer and did leave a five dollar tip. All in all, I was disappointed and it will be quite a while before I go back Honestly, I think breakfast at McDonald's is lots better! At least their McMuffin sandwiches, etc.are satisfying.

Of course a vegan knows going in that there's really nothing much to eat at a Cracker Barrel, but you won't starve. There are a few boring accidentally vegan items that the staff thinks of as dietetic or allergen-free: oatmeal, grits, hash browns, steamed carrots or broccoli, etc. Read the menu carefully and ask questions. Remember that if it has any cholesterol at all, it contains an animal product. A vegetarian who eats eggs can find a lot more options, obviously. My waitress was very helpful and prompt, and made no mistakes, not at all like some of the servers described by other Yelpers. My omnivore companion liked his "Grilled Chicken n' Fresh Vegetable Salad" well enough though it was only an ordinary green salad with some corn added as the vegetable. The food was a bit pricey, we both thought, and not really worth the money. We browsed the retro country store listening to bluegrass gospel and Dolly Parton singing, "Oh the pain of loving you! Oh the misery I go through!" The store was way more entertaining than the restaurant. If you care about buying US-made look sharp, because much of the old-timey patriotic kitsch is made in China. Right now, early fall, they're stocking Halloween costumes and gearing up for Christmas, oh joy! Overall, I consider this visit a one-time deal. I won't be stopping along the road at any other Cracker Barrels.

MAJOR FAIL We were quickly seated and that's the extent of our positive experience. Our server took her time taking our order. I placed the kid's orders first and they took forever to come out. The place wasn't busy. Next, we finally placed our orders (the kids were practically done at this point). My sister in law and I ordered the same thing- oven baked chicken breast. I don't know how this happened, but my dish was the last one out of the kitchen. So, they (SIL and my husband) ate their entire meal and I watched. Finally, mine was brought out but it was so uncomfortable to eat knowing they were done. I was *thisclose* to cancelling my order. The food isn't good- period. My husband's steak was well-done andhe asked for it medium well. Service was awful. I'm not sure who's fault the crappy timing of the meal was- the server or the cook. I won't be back.

Had to come up to Plymouth Meeting on some weekend business. Figured this was as good a place as any to grab a quick bite before heading home. I just don't get enough of Cracker Barrel in my life. This is the closest one to me, and to be honest with all of the diner choices I have in my life, why would I drive up here more often to come to a place like this? You see, Cracker Barrel is the perfect "we might as well try it while we are here" place. I don't know many people who go out of their way just to go to one. I suppose if one were closer to me, I would go more often. After all, you can't beat the prices here. But of the breakfast sampler I tried, I probably enjoyed about half of the items while the others were just ok. The biscuits were good but the gravy didn't wow me. The fried apples were tasty, but the grits underwhelmed. The bacon and sausage were decent, but the ham was too salty and fatty. The store is a Republican's fantasy store, with all of the gospel and Chevy truck hats and stuff with inspirational sayings and what not. I imagine Sarah Palin would be quite comfortable here. Despite all of that, I kind of like the old style soda choices and some of the knick knacks. It's a fine choice if you don't have to drive too far to get to it. And I finally beat the peg game, though I admit that I googled the solution.

Cracker Barrel has a wide variety of menu options available and breakfast can be had from open until close. Fortunately, I don't have any near my house so it always feels like a vacation treat whenever I get a chance to get to one. I'm not going to say the food is awesome, but it is pretty good, and a great bang for your buck. It's definitely a family friendly atmosphere and whichever one I've visited I have always had a pleasurable experience with the staff, they certainly treat you with that whole "service with a smile" thing. The food I would give 3 1/2 stars, but the friendly service and the smells you get hit with when you walk through the door into a "country store" bumps it to up 4 stars in my book. They sell plenty of candy, scented candles, toys and games from yesteryear which causes me to always walk out satisfied and happy.

You enter in the "gift shop" area and make your way to the hostess she seats you in a cramp area that feels like a porch in southern Alabama or something (guess that's what their going for) but we were way too close to the next table and for the price..... Horrible noisy experience as an adult man at the table next to me is watching LOUD videos on his phone. Third time this has happened as staff just walk by the man over and over. I'm done with this place. It has taken a serious nose dive. They lost my business. I would give it zero stars if I could. My server, Alberto, is the best I've ever had, but the ambience is gone.

Country atmosphere, very cute! Not quiet at all, but a busy type of noise that isn't obnoxious. Only thing is we had to wait a bit for our food-which isn't too bad but I really think they should give you a little something to snack on while you wait. Biscuits, bread, anything. I got catfish, both grilled and fried. Mac and cheese, sweet potato and coleslaw. My daughter got praline pecan fried chicken salad. It was absolutely delicious. Best comfort food I've ever had!

The food is okay. Reasonable price. My husband really likes this place so we tend to order some takeout from this place quite a bit. Our takeout orders got messed up almost every time! It's so bad that it became a joke in our family. I always double check in the parking lot before I leave, but my husband doesn't always do that. 8 times out of 10 he came back with a totally different dish! So please BEWARE! Check your food before you go home!

I've always wanted to go to a Cracker Barrel! I drive past their billboards on the highway all the time, and I always wanted to actually go into one and try it out. Today ended up being the day, since sudden freezing rain stopped us from going - well, basically anywhere. I ordered three pancakes, with maple syrup, eggs (scrambled) and bacon. The pancakes were so delicious, sweet and kind of crispy along the edges. They tasted kind of like funnel cakes in pancake form - so delicious. They warmed up the maple syrup, too, which was awesome, although the butter patty was so hard I had to really struggle to spread it. There was a surprisingly small amount of eggs, but they did look like real eggs, the bacon, although marked as "thick-sliced," didn't seem any thicker than the average slice of bacon. The service was fine, although our waitress was a little hard to locate at times. She brought out a plate of biscuits in the beginning in lieu of giving us our individual biscuits, which was a little strange but nice, and she was prompt.

Everyone raves about this place, so I had to check it out! We went for dinner. I had the Oven Fried Chicken, My hubby had the over fried chicken with a side of shrimp and my daughter had the Kids Shrimp. Good thing: The place is nice, it's different and you can shop while you wait for your food (if you are into that kind of thing). I was able to browse while the family played Chinese Checkers at the table. The food came out so fast that I thought they were playing a joke on me when my daughter interrupted my shopping for me to eat. Chicken was dry, food was okay. Hubby mentioned that it could have been microwaved, which is true. There was nothing special at all about the food. They forgot his side of shrimp, which didn't come out until he was nearly finished his meal. We also had dessert which was also mediocre. The Ice cream had no taste and the apple pie was okay, but tasted more like a Mrs Smith's. IDK, maybe I was expecting too much. I was told that it is the breakfast that everyone raves about, which I didn't know they served all day. Dinner was wack to be honest, nothing to drive all the way out to Plymouth meeting to try. I was a bit disappointed but hey at least I can say I've been there. I am willing to go back and try breakfast, and maybe to a different location. It is very family friendly and the employees are nice.

This is the first Cracker Barrel I've ever been too and we've started coming here occasionally, usually for lunch. Service is always good and we never have to wait long for our food. Very reasonably priced with big portions and almost all of their meals coming with 2 or 3 sides. I like their chicken and dumplings and the chicken fried chicken. Also, their gift shop or whatever has some cool stuff in it.

Yes nothing like Cracker Barrel to start the day off, or in my case end the day. I had just finished work and the thought of momma's pancakes, with thick cut bacon , hash brown casserole, and buttermilk biscuits danced in my mind. As you enter this fine establishment you are greeted with that southern twist. Southern music being played, the inviting smell of the candles with their comfortable scents. This is got to be the largest gift store located within the restaurant that I have seen. OK lets get past that and into the real issue at hand.. FOOD !!! As you make your way thru you wait to be seated a whole minute, once you are acknowledged they walk you to your table. It is like walking through an antiques shop with all the early 1900's nostalgia, seeing how things were done before the technology came about. Seated quickly as my waitress was already there with a smile , this is looking good on my part I thought. Gave my order with seeing I already had a game plan before I even opened the doors. I must say probably the best breakfast out there is the " Momma's pancakes" with some more adds to the side to go with this. I had added the hash brown casserole, with buttermilk biscuits. The pancakes they make are excellent, fluffy and big with the hot syrup bottles they give to dress those flapjacks mixed with the melted butter. With these ginormous pancakes comes your eggs how you want, myself I went with scrambled with cheese. The cheese just holds these little guys together, so with every fork of it you are getting a great chunk, and sitting next to my eggs was the hash brown casserole. Oh this is work of art, hash browns thinly cut, mixed with cheese holding them in nice and tight just begging for you to please, please stick me and enjoy. Nice thick cut bacon, 4 strips of the healthy stuff for you to eye up and figure out when you can manage to enjoy it , but wait you have warm biscuits wanting some attention. Look to my right all of a sudden my coffee was topped off, I love this kind of pampering, it was all about me. OK maybe my eyes were bigger than my stomach, yes I know this now, but at that moment I needed that fix I had missed. I had forced myself to finish everything, leave no man behind type mentalities, or in this case down to the biscuit and hash browns. Goodness I was in heaven, I love food, places like this is the main reason why I am big. Honestly I had to unbuckle my belt and top button on my pants so I could drive home from the INEXPENSIVE FEAST I just experienced. Great atmosphere with the fireplace in the middle, excellent customer service, great food with the main ingredient being "butter". If you haven't been to a Cracker Barrel I don't know what you are waiting for. The other reviewers who gave a lower rating , I'm sorry but I did not experience what they had gone through. I will be back again, once a month type of visits. Now go in and eat, I enjoy spreading the love to all ! ***side note*** seeing it is the fall season they have an assortment of Harvest blends that looked amazing, I was contemplating in getting a pumpkin ginger custard for dessert, this was well before I even ate a single bite. Now I know, this will be saved for my next visit.

Standard cracker barrel. Everything was as expected. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Had the rainbow trout, it was cooked perfectly sides of turnip greens, pinto beans and rice pilaf were also good.

I have to admit I've probably frequented this restaurant more times than any other restaurant in my lifetime and I don't care. I've never had a bad experience here for being a large chain restaurant, and it's such an easy establishment to bring multiple generations of the family. They have two very large menus: one with typical home style meals and one with breakfast options and they serve breakfast all day. If you go on a Sunday you must get the Sunday special of home style fried chicken. There is no other option! If heavy foods isn't your style no problem! They've recently established a meal with lighter/healthier choices in their menu. And they also have a great salad section. I almost always go home with leftovers, including when I get a salad as a meal. Listen, you're not coming here for a new and original experience. Your coming to get a great amount of food for extremely low prices. The ambiance and front store may be a slight turn off, but if you have grandma and a 3 year old with you this is the place to go.

Cracker Barrel is "okay"... Honestly I don't think it's anything to brag about. It's a good place to go for a quick breakfast at a decent price. The pancakes are okay, bacon good, hash brown casserole okay....and the chicken fried chicken is okay. Again, nothing to brag about. I will probably not visit again unless the family vote over rules me :).

I loved this place, the food is great (very caloric) but it truly is comfort food! The buttermilk biscuits were delicious and my other half loved the maple syrup so much that we had to buy a few bottles lol I had the smallest order of pancakes...they were great, fluffy and perfect and the orange juice was freshly squeezed and that for me is a BIG deal! I also liked the stuff that is on sale at the lobby, I bought some cute decor for our apartment.

There's nothing fancy about this place. Its rustic decor and fireplace aren't modern or trendy by any stretch. But the extensive menu, the pleasant waiters and waitresses, and the speedy service make this the best family-friendly restaurant in the area. We have two small children, and everyone who works there is so welcoming to them. The pancakes are far and away the star of the menu, and they're worth having at any time of the day or night. For lunch or dinner, I enjoy the salads and chicken dishes. One thing is for sure- even with the lighter fare menus, if you're leaving hungry , that's not Cracker Barrel's doing! Word of caution: weekends can be packed, so if you are averse to crowds, consider going for an early morning breakfast (before 9am), or do an "off" time for lunch/dinner. Of course, there is always the store to occupy you while you wait!

Believe it or not we had an excellent time at cracker barrel with our party of 5.on a not-to-busy Friday night (5-7 minute wait for a table). The little one loved her food (fried shrimp) and she and my MIL shopped in the gift shop and bought "Mad Libs" and an old-style box of Cracker Jack. (The little one had never had cracker jack before and wondered about the prize.) After a carb and fat loaded meal (not good for the diet at all) we relxzed on rocking chairs out front (for sale) and played checkers. The staff especially Judi (trainer) in the gift shop and Justin or server were all terrific. Is this my favorite place? No way. But it beats Denny's or Perkins any day and you can get pancakes for dinner!

If you are looking for country cooking and not worried about calories, then this is your place. I go here maybe once a year and order anything I want with no care for calories. We recently went after a late night out. Grits, biscuits and gravy, along with some country fried steak was heavily needed. We had a 20 minute wait. So we had some time to wander the gift shop. We were seated within 20 minutes, greeted by our server immediately and looked at the menu. I feel the menu could be organized a bit better. I ordered an egg sandwich with the has brown casserole. It arrived promptly and i quickly stole my fiances grits. They were delish. I literally left nothing on my plate and grabbed a biscuit off his plate as well. This meal hit the spot, but it certainly is a place to reserve when you want to be really bad about calories.

We returned here after a long hiatus, driving forty minutes for breakfast . Despite their being extremely busy, we were promptly seated by the host who welcomed us. Dakar G., our server, soon arrived with menus and requested our beverage order. Throughout our visit we found him to be pleasant, efficient, and professional. On our prior visits we have always ordered the "Uncle Hershel's" special with a few modifications. Invariably, the servers have delivered our order slightly different than what we requested. This time, Dakar got it right with no exceptions! He checked in several times to esure that our meal was to our liking. He was a gem! Our food was quite good, a cut above standard diner breakfast fare, with quality ingredients, nicely presented and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is a bit contrived but fun, with a hodge podge of country accoutrements throughout the establishment. The working, wood burning fireplace adds a welcome dimension to the usual chain restaurant.

Cracker Barrel consistently disappoints me. My husband and I stopped here after going ten miles out of our way on our way home from the airport yesterday. We got seated right away but it took a while for our waitress to come. When she did, she was not one of the friendly ones. She took our drink order and I asked her what the soup was. She had to check on that! Hello, it's lunchtime and you don't know the soup of the day??? We ordered our food which included coleslaw and cornbread. I also ordered my platter without gravy. The waitress specifically asked me "you don't want any gravy at all?" I said "no, none at all." It took at least 20 minutes to get our food (even the coleslaw and cornbread) and guess what???? GRAVY on my food! The lady who brought our food (not our waitress) said, "I didn't know you meant no gravy at all, I thought you meant on your mashed potatoes." They took it back and then came out to tell me that if I didn't want gravy, I'd have to have my roast beef grilled. Okay, whatever. Ten minutes later, a third person brought my food and I must say he did apologize. However, at least half of my meat was fat so I couldn't eat it anyway. The first waitress then came over asked how everything was ......but she wasn't really waiting for a reply........just plopped our check on the table and walked away. Nope, didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. I am pretty sure this will be our last trip to Cracker Barrel!

I want to say that this a review specifically about the Plymouth Meeting Cracker Barrel. My boyfriend, my parents and my sister and her family have all been to many other Cracker Barrel's and they all raved about their experiences. This is not a rave review. Sunday morning around 9:30am on our way to vacation, my boyfriend thought I should experience Cracker Barrel. I had heard wonderful things from family and friends so I was excited. The one in Plymouth Meeting was on the way to our destination so we stopped there. The gift shop is pretty spectacular and well priced but I am trying to lose weight so purchasing candy was not on the to-do list. Very fun to look around at all the old time candies though! We were seated very quickly and our waitress came over relatively quickly to give us water. She smiled once, briefly and then turned into a robot. I ordered Mama's French Toast Breakfast and asked for the meat on a separate plate since I am a vegetarian and wanted to give my boyfriend the meat. This confused her I guess because it did not compute and took her some time to process. My boyfriend ordered Mama's Pancake breakfast, eggs lightly scrambled. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. People who were seated after us got served well before us by nicer, more caring waitresses around the room. When we finally got our food, it was lukewarm. The french toast was bland and tasted like uncooked white bread. They switched the egg orders so I got the lightly scrambled ones and before I realized it had added ketchup so then my boyfriend wouldn't eat it and I had slimy eggs while his were scrambled hard. The pancakes were burnt and tough. We were both thoroughly disappointed in this experience and will not return to this CB although I am still open to trying other ones in other parts of the country.

We were running errands yesterday evening and decided we might as well bite the bullet and finally try out Cracker Barrel. At first, I thought we had come in via the wrong door because we wound up in the gift shop, but no, apparently that's how they do things at Cracker Barrel. We were seated right away, and really the service was prompt and friendly the whole way though. I ordered the catfish and the boyfriend had a burger, and it was all pretty good, right down to the corn muffin and biscuit. They get a whole extra star for their tart but not overly sweet homemade lemonade. We wrapped up with a slice of "Coke cake" that was plenty big enough to share and did a great job of satisfying my chocolate craving. All in all, nothing fancy, just a decent home cooked meal when we couldn't be bothered cooking for ourselves, and for under $30 with tip I have no regrets. We browsed the gift shop on the way out, and even though we didn't buy anything, the prices were certainly reasonable, if country kitsch is your thing.

Never in all my years in Atlanta would I have gone to a place call Cracker Barrel. But here, now it's almost a Sunday ritual. They switch up their menu for the different seasons but their mainstays; Beef Tenderloins, Catfish, Sunday Chicken, and their breakfast menu are always spot on. The only reason for a 4 star is the service can be hit or miss. Don't get me wrong, they are all very friendly and helpful, but when that place gets packed it can be tough trying to get help.

Grandpa's Country Fried Steak Momma's French Toast Breakfast Been here 3 times, always left full. They always give great portions and all 3 times, I've been fully satisfied and satieted..if anything..too satisfied. The fried steak is a perfect blend of frying, meat, saltiness and filling. Not the healthiest way to start the day, but sure is one of the best ways to start the day. I also really like drenching my french toast in syrup and love how there is a layer of egg on top of it. Great place to stop prior to a ski trip in the Poconos. Eat well and lots for breakfast, ski/ride thru the day, skipping lunch. Added bonus, I really like their little bottles of warmed-up and watered-down syrup.

We hadn't been here for quite some time and decided to stop in for a quick lunch. It wasn't too crowded at 1:30 pm, and our wait was maybe 5 minutes. The hostess was lovely but our actual server was an absolute atrocity! She was very patronizing when I inquired about how big the turkey and chicken entree salads were. "It's a salad. It's lettuce." Well, geez that was super helpful. Thanks a million for letting me that a salad contains lettuce. Anyhow, I decided on the grilled chicken tenderloins country dinner plate, which contained 4 TINY pieces of chicken. They were tender but wouldn't have satisfied a toddler! The turnip greens were very good, though, as were the carrots. My dad's hamburger wasn't that great and tasted like something from a fast food restaurant, although the turkey noodle was decent. Now, since the actual entree was so tiny, I expected to be brought more than a single corn muffin and a single biscuit, but that was all. Our server actually ignored us throughout the meal and we had to ask for refills, which she did bring albeit with exaggerated eye rolls. I wish that she had actually told us her name so that I can call the management. Usually, the servers here are great but today was horrid! 1 star for the server, but I will add another because the other staff here were great and I do love the turnip greens and the single biscuit that I did get. BTW, we were seated near the 2nd door to the kitchen if that provides any elucidation into the identity of the waitress. Yes, I realize that I could have checked the receipt but dad threw it away on the way out...
